Announcing Indecision Coach
As you might have guessed by my Play and Decisions entry on this site, I've been thinking about that particular classic toy for some time...
I've had the basic idea for Indecision Coach in my head since about a year after the first iPhone launched, and I finally built one that I feel is ready to release to the world.
It's funny, but as a kid, I never owned one of the toys that inspired this app, and that's probably why I wanted to build it so much. I did actually acquire a knockoff while developing the app, and played with an original in a store. I think the knockoff has a better feel to it than the original. I find the little thunk you feel as the die inside knocks into the sides of it's container charming.
I know there are several versions of this on the App Store, but none of them had what I was looking for. On iPhones that support haptic feedback, this app feels like a physical toy that gives you a subtle tap when the answer floats up to the top and hits the glass of the phone. The answers are not randomly generated — they come from simulating the physics of what would actually be inside a real toy.
Why give it the life coach theme? Life coaches are more common these days than fortune tellers or psychics. I'm not trying to demean life coaches with this — it's all in good fun. The answers are playful, and meant to be just that.
My family and friends helped come up with the answers, and I think they turned 0ut pretty fun. Thanks y'all!
