Building Common Ground

What can we do to build common ground?

We need to listen to each other.  Truly listen.  

There are reasons someone is passionate about his or her opinion.  What are those reasons?

Ask questions to understand those reasons further, not to change their mind.  Don't form a judgement.  Just listen and understand where they are coming from.

Keep asking questions until you find some point you can relate to.
