Joy in Clutter
While making coffee this morning, I could see into the very messy playroom. My initial thought was the work to clean it up, and then my mind wandered into what else that room could be.
When we moved in, we converted the room next to the kitchen from a formal dining room into a playroom. It could be a sitting room, or a wine room, or an office when the kids don’t need a playroom anymore.
That’s when then it hit me — when the kids don’t need a playroom anymore. Suddenly, I was left wanting to keep that clutter as long as I possibly could — to find joy in the clutter now.
So, I took a picture right where I was looking. I stopped, for a moment, to think about the kids who would be playing in there when they woke up.
Even the many irritations of daily life can be turned into moments of joy and thankfulness for what you have.
I’m very grateful to have a family that makes some clutter in my life.
